RADNOR HIGH SCHOOL PTSA
MINUTES 4/19/06

WELCOME: The meeting was called to order at 8:00 PM by Robin Kaney.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of 3/8/06 were approved by motion and second.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Trean Bock reviewed the PTSA treasurer’s report which was approved by motion and second. Income since last report was from e-script. Trean advised if anyone has outstanding expenses to be paid by the PTSA, they need to be submitted.
Kathy Enicks reviewed the school store treasurer’s report. The store is in good financial condition for the beginning of the 2006-’07 school year.

PARENT COUNCIL REPORTS: The freshman class is planning a parent social. The sophomore class semi-formal is 5/6/06 with a theme of Arabian Nights. Their class project is the African Education Project begun by two Radnor graduates. The junior prom is 4/22/06 and decorating is being finalized. Senior projects were discussed at the parent council as well as a fashion show fund raiser to be held on 4/29/06 in the Black Box Theater which will raise funds for dental care for inner city children who do not have insurance. The class is also volunteering with the Delaware County Housing Coalition and collecting prom dresses and boys jackets for next year’s prom season to be donated to high schools damaged in hurricane Katrina.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Robin encouraged speaker suggestions for next year’s PTSA meetings.

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT: Mrs. Eby reported the master schedule for the 2006-’07 school year is being finalized. 11 faculty are retiring and interviewing is ongoing. Discussion of weighted versus unweighted grades will be long-term. All central league schools have discussed utilizing breathalyzers for all students at proms and dances, but Radnor does not have such a policy at present. On 4/25/06 Tim Stecker & Associates will present to the 11th & 12th grade.

GUEST SPEAKER: Dan Nichter, Guidance Counselor, presented information on the college admission process and other work of the Guidance Department with a question and answer session. On May 2 a college fair will be held at Villanova from 6-9 PM. The Guidance Department will be evaluated by an outside consultant to review work flow.

Radnor Education Foundation: Joy Antopoulos discussed the 4/24/06 Wine & Cheese Reception to be held at the Willows which will afford the community an opportunity to meet Board members and learn more about the Radnor Education Foundation. All are encouraged to attend. In December, 2006, an on-line seminar will be presented for parents regarding safety on-line.
Radnor Scholarship Foundation: Carol Turner distributed flyers for the 4/28/06 fund raiser at the Willows and encouraged all to attend events sponsored by the Scholarship Foundation which include 4th of July fireworks.
ABC House: Ellen Epps reported the recent fund raiser was very successful. The funds will be utilized for ongoing maintenance needed in the house. Next year’s students have been selected.
Directory: Steph Metter would like anyone with changes to complete the form included in the newsletter.
