Plans are ongoing for the one period day, Winter Fest on 2/7/06 and 3 students from Liberia will be coming to Radnor for the remainder of the school year.

PARENT COUNCIL REPORTS:

Sarah Geary reported the junior class will be working on Martin Luther King Day with the Delaware County Housing Coalition. They have chosen 5/19/07 for their senior prom. On 2/10/06 a Battle of the Bands fundraiser will be held with proceeds going to a high school in Jefferson Parish, Lousiana.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Debbie reported the concert for the Megan Hayes scholarship was very successful. The Coordinating Council discussed the Gaskins case and the impact the decision will have on extra services for special needs students. Also, an automated emergency notification system is being discussed. The Drug & Alcohol Task Force has met twice since the last PTSA meeting in November. Parents of juniors or seniors must attend a mandatory meeting if their child wishes to attend the prom.

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT: Mrs. Eby reviewed the Program of Studies time line with discussion following. Projected enrollment for next school year is 1,200 students. The Gaskins case will have dramatic changes as far as special education classes are concerned. The hope is that more direct instruction will be offered to special education students. It has been proposed that the Math Center and Writing Center be combined so that any student can feel comfortable to utilize the services of the center.

OLD/NEW BUSINESS: Lois Wysocki has encouraged each grade level to participate in a project for Katrina relief. A parent-only sock hop is another possibility for fund raising for Katrina victims. Lois thanked everyone involved in the college freshman panel as it was believed the seniors who attended gained very valuable insights into college life. In the future, it may become an assembly.
