PTSA MINUTES
11/10/04

WELCOME

PTSA co-presidents Debbie Gibbons-Neff and Ronnie Hittson called the meeting to order at 8:00 PM


APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of 10/13/04 were approved by motion and second.


TREASURER’S REPORT
The PTSA statement was approved by motion and second. The School Store statement was approved by motion and second.


STUDENT REPORTS
Mike Hobson, freshmen class president, reported there was great participation in LM week festivities. The class also worked on the Radnor Cares project and the
canned good food drive for Thanksgiving.

Alina Miska, sophomore class representative, reported their class also enjoyed the LM week festivities. Mrs. Wysocki is working with the class on the Thanksgiving
project.

Erica Jahnle reported for the senior class that LM week was enjoyed by all. The class worked on the Radnor Cares project as well as going to Chester to work on
home front improvements through a Delaware County program.


FACULTY REPORT
Ellie Doerr reported that many faculty members participated in and enjoyed LM week. Report card comments have been revised to give more varied choices. The
program of studies is being worked on and grades will be turned in next week.


PARENT COUNCIL REPORT
Missy Parkin reported the seniors Post Prom fund raiser will be Radnor flip flops. Order forms are available. Ilene Goldis reported the freshman class will hold a
parent social. Class dues for class activities were discussed.


PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Debbie Gibbons-Neff reported a second PTSA e-mail test was done. The office e-mail list is being finalized. A thank you from Ilene Goldis for the $500.00 PTSA
donation was received. Concerns have been raised about school dances and the fact some Radnor students are turned away because of facility limitations.


COMMITTEE REPORTS
Radnor Cares-Packing of the items collected will be on 11/15/04 at 1:00 PM in the RHS cafeteria. Volunteers are encouraged to contact Ellen Epps.

Parent Teacher Conference Scheduling-A yellow post card has been mailed to all families indicating sign-up times.

Staff Appreciation Dinner:-Brenda Elkin has sign-up sheets available for the dinner which will be an Italian theme on 11/22/04. Help with centerpieces is also
welcome.

Holiday Baskets-Sign-ups available tonight for 11/22/04 delivery. This project will be duplicated for the winter holiday.

ABC House-Ellen Epps thanked everyone who supports the dinner program for the house which has been expanded to include birthday celebrations for anyone
wishing to participate.

Drug & Alcohol Task Force-Judy Sherry reported for Dan Sherry that plans are underway for an athlete or other known speaker to present a January or February
program. The Delaware County Districts Attorneys office has been contacted for ideas in merging the Task Force with community groups and churches. The next
meeting is 11/17/04 in the library conference room.

Radnor Education Foundation-Sea Dream Gala will be held on 2/11/05 at the Radnor Valley Country Club. This year will include a live auction.

Radnor Scholarship Breakfast with Santa-Scheduled for 12/11/04 at RMS.

Craft Show-RMS 11/20/04 9-3PM


GUEST SPEAKER
Gary R. Cooper, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools, addressed the PTSA and answered questions. He has been very impressed with the caliber of students in the
district and feels an already great district can be even better. He sees a need to focus on improving writing skills and expanding high school math to include a
calculus requirement for all students.


PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Mrs. Eby was very pleased with the participation of staff and students during LM week Dances are being discussed because of their popularity and lack of space in
the cafeteria.

The AP honors committee is reviewing their program. Parents are welcome to join classes during American Education Week, but it is requested all sign-in at the
reception desk. Our new Athletic Director has begun work and is very excited to be at Radnor.


NEW BUSINESS
Ronnie Hittson attended the recent community forum which included a great variety of topics. The report is available to anyone.
