RADNOR HIGH SCHOOL PTSA
MINUTES
MAY 14, 2003

PTSA president Mercedes Karel called the meeting to order at 8 PM.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of March 12, 2003 were approved by motion and second.

TREASURER'S REPORT
The main account and school store accounts were reviewed by Anne Peters and then approved by motion and second. The very positive balance in the school store account was noted. A proposed budget will be submitted for approval at the first PTSA meeting of the '03-04 school year.

STUDENT REPORTS
Robert Dorfman reported the prom on Saturday, April 26 was a great success. 300 students attended. The Junior class is organizing the Senior Class Awards Night for Monday, June 9 which will have the all-Juniors musical group "Trio con Brio" performing. Student government elections are taking place this week.

FACULTY REPORT:
Ms. Doerr thanked the PTSA for their continuing support of the students and faculty.

PRINCIPAL'S REPORT:
Jim Dormond reported for Bob Baker. The principal search committee has interviewed several excellent candidates. It was suggested a reception to meet the new principal be held this Fall hosted by the PTSA. The revised exam schedule has been mailed. Several students will be prosecuted by local authorities for theft committed this week in a locker room. The course selection process is at a point where Jim Dormond has started to build next year's schedule. The process is more streamlined than last year. Jim wanted to acknowledge retiring teachers, Dale Dohner, Jim Balk, Fran Finkel and George Hopson. Jim requested that the PTSA become more involved in communicating calendar changes which may become necessary to the community.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT:
The final Breakfast with the Administrators will take place on May 30 with Bob Baker as our guest. Mercedes presented gifts to Anne Peters, PTSA treasurer, and Rosemary Browne, PTSA secretary. Both were thanked for their dedication to the PTSA board. Next year's first PTSA meeting will be on 9/10/03. On 9/2/03 a cook-out will be held for the incoming freshmen. The PTSA has donated $200 for prizes.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
ABC House: Craig Sullivan thanked all who have supported the ABC House. Funds are being raised to update the electrical system in the house, install a sprinkler system and air conditioning. Members of the ABC Board of Directors will be added to the mailing list of the RHS newsletter.

Scholarship Fund: Mercedes reported 31 students will receive financial aid from the fund. Julianne Zekian reported the Fourth of July fireworks are one of the largest fund raisers of the scholarship fund and all support is welcome.

Post Prom: Kris Sanders reported the plans are finalized and everyone anticipates a successful event. Exceptional prizes, activities and food are planned.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE:
The slate of officers for the 2003-2004 school year was approved by motion, second and vote.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:45 PM.
