RADNOR HIGH SCHOOL
PTSA MINUTES
MARCH 12, 2003

President Mercedes Karel called the meeting to order at 8:05 PM.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of January 8, 2003 were approved by motion and second.

TREASURER'S REPORT
The main account and school store accounts were reviewed by Anne Peters and then approved by motion and second.  A proposed budget was presented which reflects the income reduction due to elimination of Acme and Genuardi script.

STUDENT REPORTS
Stephanie Cantner reported the senior class prom is May 16, Ballroom at the Ben.  Tryouts for the senior musical will be held March 20.  The musical will take place May 30, 31, June 1.  Preparations have started for baccalaureate to be held on June 8.  Cap and gown orders must be placed by March 14.
Eliza Chamblin reported the junior class is holding a cleat and shin guard drive with the equipment to go to an elementary school in Philadelphia.  The junior prom will be held on April 26 in the cafeteria.

ADMINISTRATION REPORTS
Jim Dormond reported Dr. Baker was unable to attend tonight's meeting due to the death of a close friend.  Dr. Baker received an encouraging health report following his recent surgery.  Mr. Dormond reported the student course selections for next year have been turned in.  Mr. Rosen of our faculty did an excellent job in putting everything on line.  An additional information tool regarding early dismissal is the main high school phone number which will prompt the caller to hear an emergency school closing message.  PSSAS and ERBs will take place the first week of April.  Discussion and question and answer period followed regarding security in the event of a national or local emergency.  

PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Mercedes requested that Mr. Dormond address recent rumors in the high school.  The facts to the best of his knowledge were discussed.  A search committee for a new principal is in place due to Dr. Baker's planned retirement.  Motion was made, seconded and carried to provide a Radnor theme basket for the ABC celebration.  The school store will provide the necessary items.  Motion was made, seconded and carried to provide Anne Leibig $200 for gift certificates for the new student welcome program held in August.  The next breakfast with the administrators will be held Monday, March 24 at 7 AM with Michael Busza.  Discussion followed regarding the Bryn Mawr post office and delays in receiving newsletters.  

COMMITTEES
Winterfest: Nancy Kneeland reported Winterfest was well-received by the 8th grade parents who attended.
Post Prom:  Kris Sanders reported volunteers for various committees are welcome.
Student Planners:  Motion was made, seconded and carried for Pam Allen to go ahead with student planners for the 2003-2004 school year.
ABC Celebration:  Ellen Epps reported the 30th anniversary celebration will be held at VFMA on 3/29/03.  All are encouraged to attend.
Radnor Education Foundation:  Maryann Brink reported the recent gala was a success raising approximately $30,000.  Bev Galloway reported a recent grant provided for the Contemplation Garden at Radnor Elementary.
Radnor Scholarship Foundation:  Barbara Zuckerman reported a flier is in the most recent newsletter announcing River Boat Revelry to be held at the Willows on 3/28/03.  Everyone is welcome to support this event.
Nominating Committee:  Slate of Officers for 2003/2004, president:  Mercedes Karel, co-vice president:  Nancy Kneeland, Craig Sullivan, co-secretary: Ronnie Hittson, Kathy Enicks, Treasurer PTSA: Trean Cunningham, Treasurer School Store:  Maryann Brink.  The slate will be confirmed at the 5/14/03 meeting.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:15 PM
