PTSA MINUTES JANUARY 8, 2003 President Mercedes Karel called the meeting to order at 8:05PM APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of November 13, 2003 were approved by Motion and second. TREASURER'S REPORT The main account and school store accounts were approved by motion and second. STUDENT REPORTS Stephanie Cantner reported on the up coming Senior Social. Stephanie explained that since the Social fell on the same night as the NFC championship game, it would be an Eagles Celebration/Senior Social. One of the senior fundraisers is a compatibility test/match up for $1.00 and the results would be returned on Valentine's Day. A full meeting for the parent Post Prom Party committee will be on March 12th.
PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Acting principal, Mr. Jim Dormond was happy to report that Dr. Baker was feeling well and would be returning January 20th. He also was happy to report that at the first Hi Q competition Radnor did very well. Also this month, we had the "Radnor Returning Graduates", this is a panel of college freshman that answered questions from this year's seniors. This program helps with the transition to college life. The panel was very well received. Mr. Dormond stated that this year's Winterfest, February 12th, would be a little different from previous years. This year, the 8th graders and their parents will meet in the auditorium for a program that includes; an overview of the academic departments, counselors, athletics, clubs and others activities at the high school. This program would have refreshments provided by the RHS PTSA. PRESIDENT'S REPORT Mercedes reported that all the winter concerts went very well. A PTSA fundraising idea was discussed, a school spirit button. The PTSA board will check with Mrs. Wysocki to get the O.K. Mercedes requested volunteers for a nominating committee. Peggy Kauffmann volunteered to head the committee. The PTSA donated $100.00 for a lottery basket for the Radnor Educational Foundation auction. Genardi's certificates will still be on sale, but this program will end in July. COMMITTEE REPORTS ABC HOUSE: The Radnor A Better Chance program is celebrating its 30th year. The benefit celebration will be held at Mellon Hall at the Valley Forge Military Academy on Saturday, March 29, 2003. Scholarship Fund: The annual fundraising event will be held at the Willows on March 28th. Radnor Educational Foundation: The annual gala will be held on Friday, February 7th. NEW BUSINESS Mercedes asked at the request of the coordinating council and Dr. DeFlaminis, if the PTSA thought it was necessary to have an open forum for the Middle School Site 2/3/03 at the high school. The general consensus was that it was not necessary. A suggested one time donation of $500.00 from the PTSA for the ABC program's 30th anniversary was approved by motion and second.
