PTSA MINUTES
November 13, 2002
President Mercedes Karel called the meeting to order at 7:35 PM
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of October 9, 2002 were approved by motion and second.
TREASURER'S REPORT
The main account and school store accounts were approved by motion
and second.
STUDENT REPORTS
Stephanie Cantner reported the senior class musical auditions
will take place before Thanksgiving. All classes are welcome to
participate in the Thanksgiving dinner
for the Wayne Senior Center. Parent committees for the Post Prom
party are meeting. Graduation is 6/12/03.
The senior semi-formal is 1/11/03
(new date).
Robert Dorfman reported for the junior class that the theme
voted for the 4/26/03 prom is "Enchanted Forest". It is necessary
that the junior class look into places
for their senior prom this year.
Hilary Bridges reported the sophomore class art auction is
11/15/02. This is the biggest fund raiser for the class. The class
semi-formal is
2/21/03 at the Willows.
PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Dr. Baker reported LM week went well with a sensational pep rally.
Fall sports and band have all enjoyed a great season. A plagerism
policy will be developed by a committee to include parents as well
as faculty. Discussion followed regarding announcement of club
meetings and how to improve communication. For equity, no one is
allowed to use the PA system for announcements, however, other
methods of announcing club meetings are being explored.
PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Mercedes reported the LM pep rally was outstanding. The next
breakfast with the administrators will be with John Schulte on
11/19/02 at 7 AM. All are encouraged to
attend. 11/21-11/23 is the Middle School Craft Fair-all invited.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
CONFERENCES: Ronnie Hittson and Kathy Enicks reported telephone
scheduling will begin at 9 AM on 11/18. A yellow card was sent
home with the phone numbers and additional times. The lines will
be busy, so multiple attempts will most likely be necessary.
TEACHER APPRECIATION DINNER: Nancy Kneeland reported the dinner
will take place on 11/25/02 with volunteers bringing home-made
baked goods.
HOLIDAY BASKETS: Cheryl Goodman has volunteers in place.
ABC House: Craig Sullivan reported a 30th year gala will take
place 3/29/03 at Mellon Hall. For the shopping day of 12/7/02 all
gift
wrapping proceeds from Anthropologie will go to the ABC fund.
Radnor Education Foundation: MaryAnn Brink reported the gala will
take place on 2/7/03 at the Conshohocken Marriott. The theme is a
Garden Party.
RADNOR SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Barbara Zuckerman reported the Breakfast
with Santa is 12/7/02 from 9-11 in the Middle School
Cafeteria. For the shopping day of 12/19/02 gift wrapping proceeds
from Barnes & Noble will go to the scholarship fund.
NEW BUSINESS
Peg Calvarese requested financial support from the PTSA for the
purchase of band uniforms. Fund raising has been ongoing, but the
total
amount has not been raised. Uniforms have not been purchased in 12
years. Mercedes indicated PTSA policy not to fund individual
organizations or sports.
