RADNOR HIGH SCHOOL
PTSA MINUTES
October 9, 2002

President Mercedes Karel called the meeting to order at 7:35 PM.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of September 18, 2002 were approved by motion and second.

TREASURER'S REPORT
Kathy Early audited the treasurer's books and found them in order. The main account and school store accounts were approved by motion and second.

STUDENT REPORTS
Stephanie Cantner reported Senior Dress-Up Day will be held in February due to scheduling conflicts. Seniors are involved in the Lower Merion Pep Rally. Yearbook pictures are due early November. 11/13/02 senior class parent council will meet at 6:30 in the Library to discuss the post prom party and graduation.
Robert Dorfman reported the Junior class wrapping paper fund raiser has ended. A junior prom committee is in place. Several members of the junior class worked for Philadelphia Cares.

PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Parking for Open House will be improved in the future. Dr. Baker reported the memorial celebration for a recently deceased Radnor student was extremely well-done and attended by almost 400 people. John Schulte is re-doing the dance committee to address some behavior issues at dances.
Dr. Baker and Dan Drew addressed an incident involving Radnor students and Penncrest students at a Friday night football game. Dr. Baker and Dan Drew have re-addressed safety and security guidelines with students. Parents' questions were addressed in the discussion.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT
The first "Breakfast with the Administrators" with Athletic Director, Vince Citarelli, was successful. The next date is 11/19/02. Open House was very successful with thanks to all who helped in the effort. Volunteers are in place for phone conference scheduling.

COMMITTEE REPORT
Radnor Education Foundation Gala will be held on 2/7/03 with a Garden Party theme. 10/24/02 at 9 AM is a planning meeting. Anyone interested should contact Lisa Weber.
A sign-up sheet for holiday baskets was distributed.
Dan Sherry reported the Drug & Alcohol Task Force committee will address freshman parents on 10/24/02 at 7:30. This meeting is in conjunction with the Open Campus meeting. Planning is underway for a 4-5 day district wide program next school year. 10/16/02 is the next Drug & Alcohol Task Force Committee meeting at 7 PM in the Guidance Office.
Ellen Epps thanked all the volunteers who signed-up for Sunday meals. Prudential has given a $1,000 grant to meet the wish list needs.
Parent/Teacher Conference Scheduling is coordinated by Ronnie Hittson. Telephone sign-ups are 11/18, 19, 20.
Teacher Appreciation Dinner will take place on 11/25/02. The dinner is catered, but home-made baked goods are needed for dessert.  Contact Nancy Kneeland.
