RADNOR HIGH SCHOOL
PTSA MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 18, 2002

WELCOME
President Mercedes Karel introduced the PTSA board and welcomed all attendees.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of May 8, 2002 were approved by motion and second.

TREASURER'S REPORT
The main account and school store accounts were approved by motion and second. The proposed budget was passed by motion and second.

STUDENT REPORTS

Stephanie Cantner reported the magazine sale fundraiser is going on now. The senior prom date is 5/16/03. The overall homecoming theme is "typical high school". The senior class theme is "nerds." The date for senior dress-up day will be determined. The class would like to continue a "senioritis" musical under the direction of Mr. McKenna.

Robert Dorfman reported the junior class wrapping paper fund raiser is going on now. Theme for homecoming is "Jocks & Cheerleaders".  They would like to establish a student government web site.

Erica Jahnle reported the sophomore dance will take place 2/21/03. Their homecoming theme is "faculty".   Community service projects are planned and a gift wrap fund raiser is also under way. The Art Auction fund raiser is 11/15/02.

Mike Jones reported the freshman class homecoming theme is "preps". Elections will be held for class officers.

FACULTY REPRESENTATIVE
Ellie Doer reported the school year is off to a good start and thanks for all parental support during orientation.

PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Dr. Baker reported a good opening of the school year with the sports teams and band starting off well. Some glitches with the new Panamation program were experienced. The banners donated by the PTSA are an attractive identification of the campus. A 9/11/02 all school program featuring Dick Jackman was well-received. RAP has worked well. "Radnor in the Morning" will be held every Wednesday during community period. A new program is in place to provide an option of in-school expulsion for certain cases. Out-of-school expulsions will continue to be determined. Breakfast with the administrators is a new program this year. The total number of students at present is 1,024.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Mercedes reported the first "Breakfast with the Administrators" will take place on 9/30/02 with the new Athletic Director. The Radnor banners on the driveways look great. The bagel breakfast for the freshmen was enjoyed by all. MaryAnn Brink and Kris Sanders were thanked for their hard work on the Directory and Planners, respectively.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Drug & Alcohol Task Force: Dan Sherry reported a yellow card was mailed to all homes with some suggestions. The committee hopes to make the web site more student friendly. October 24 will be the freshmen presentation.

ABC House: Ellen Epps distributed a sign-up sheet for families to provide dinner at the ABC House every other Sunday so the staff can have a day off. The dinner can be dropped off or prepared at the house.

Planners: Kris Sanders apologized for the incorrect colors, but indicated they are selling well.

Directory: MaryAnn Brink reported the directories will be for sale at Open House on October 3.

Holiday Gift Baskets: Cheryl Goodman and Ann Martin will coordinate this project. All are welcome to sign-up to provide a holiday gift basket-the cost is approximately $50/basket.

OLD BUSINESS
Kathy Early will audit the Treasurer's books.

NEW BUSINESS
Open House is 10/3/02 with Peggy Kauffman and Nancy Kneeland coordinating. Everyone is encouraged to drop off any type of snack.
